CMT Music Awards gikk av stabelen i Bridgestone Arena, Nashville i går kveld. Vi var på plass på utsiden av arenaen der det var satt opp en stor scene og storskjerm som showet ble vist på.
Lady Antebellum åpnet showet med en rocka versjon av «Own The Night» sammen med Nashville pop/rock bandet Hot Chelle Rae før kveldens programmledere dukket opp i en stor «Red Solo Cup«. Toby Keith og skuespiller Kristen Bell er årets programledere.
Det var faktisk bedre å stå utendørs å se showet, en hva vi gjorde i fjor. Da satt vi inne på arenaen, men langt oppe på siden med liten sikt til hva om skjedde på scenen. Her utenfor arenaen var vi sammen med flere tusen andre tilskuere, og kunne se alt på storskjermen. Gleden var ekstra stor når Brad Paisley og Hank Williams Jr. kom på scenen for å fremføre ‘I’m Gonna Get Drunk and Play Hank Williams.’ Fantastisk stemning!
Sangen er forøvrig med på Hank Jr’s kommende album,’Old School,New Rules«, som kommer i salg 12. juli.
Willie Nelson fikk enorm applaus for fremførelsen av ‘Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die’ Willie hadde med seg Toby Keith, Zac Brown Band, Jamey Johnson og Darius Rucker på denne fremførelsen.
Kenny Chesney fremførte sin nydelige låt «Come Over«:
Eric Church var neste artist ute på scenen der vi sto. Det kokte da Church entret scenen og satt i gang med sin #1 hit ‘Drink in My Hand’
Kvelden ble avsluttet med Rascal Flatts som fremførte låtene ‘Banjo’ og ‘Don’t Stop Believin’. Da var vi kommet tilbake til hotellrommet og fikk se slutten av showet på tv….
